A fatal head-on crash occurred on the A67 near Kirklevington, Yarm, in North Yorkshire in August 2019, resulting in the death of an 85-year-old passenger in a red Nissan Note. The crash involved three vehicles, and collision investigator Michael Woodhouse reviewed a report indicating that one driver had crossed onto the wrong side of the road, causing the collision. The driver admitted fault, mentioning a wasp sting as a distraction, and witnesses reported her complaining of an injured leg. The coroner suggested that the wasp was inside the car before the journey began, leading to the belief that the driver was not in full control of her vehicle. The Crown Prosecution Service later cleared the driver of blame.
