According to Israeli media, the soldiers surrounded the house of individuals suspected of having ties to the Lions Den group and requested they surrender, but a gunfight ensued.
Reports indicate that one of the deceased was the leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Nablus, and another was allegedly connected to the death of an Israeli soldier last October.

Dozens of those injured are believed to have suffered from tear gas used to try to disperse the crowd.
Hamas, the militant group which controls the Gaza Strip, said that “the resistance forces in the Gaza Strip are monitoring the actions of the Israeli forces and have stated that their patience is running out”. The ruling Palestinian Authority has released a statement expressing their disapproval of the raid.
